(Web Desk): Federal Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry opens Pakistan’s first ferry terminal, promising enhanced coastal trade and connectivity.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry inaugurated Pakistan’s first official ferry terminal in Karachi, marking a historic milestone for the country’s maritime trade and blue economy.

Speaking at the launch, the minister described the event as a major achievement for Pakistan’s ports and coastal infrastructure. He highlighted that when he assumed office seven months ago, the country’s ferry projects were facing multiple delays and challenges.

“The ferry sector had been stagnant for years, with past projects failing to take off,” he said. “Our team issued Pakistan’s first ferry license in just seven days, restoring confidence among traders and investors.”

The newly inaugurated terminal is expected to boost coastal connectivity, streamline passenger and cargo transport, and create new trade opportunities along Pakistan’s coastline.

Minister Chaudhry also announced plans to expand the ferry service further, aiming to introduce three to four more operators soon. The expansion is expected to strengthen regional trade, promote tourism, and support the country’s overall economic growth through efficient maritime transport.

This inauguration is being hailed as a significant step in modernizing Pakistan’s maritime transport and creating a more efficient, accessible, and profitable ferry network for businesses and citizens alike.
