(Web Desk): Punjab’s new scheme promises free farmland and jobs to thousands of unemployed citizens in a major rural uplift move.

The apna khet apna rozgar scheme 2026 is offering up to five acres of free agricultural land to unemployed citizens in Punjab.

Launched under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the programme is being seen as a major step to reduce poverty and create jobs in rural areas. The scheme aims to help underprivileged families become self-reliant by giving them land to start farming and earn a stable income.

According to official details, the Punjab government plans to distribute around 250000 acres of state-owned land among eligible applicants. Each successful applicant will receive between three and five acres free of cost. However, the land must be used strictly for agricultural purposes to ensure productivity and sustainability.

To qualify, applicants must be residents of Punjab and belong to unemployed or low-income households. Preference will be given to those who have basic farming knowledge or agricultural background. A valid CNIC and proof of residence will also be required, while individuals already owning agricultural land beyond a set limit may not qualify.

Authorities have indicated that applications will likely be submitted through an online portal and facilitation centres at tehsil level. After verification, selected applicants will be allotted land transparently.

In addition, beneficiaries may receive Kisan Cards to purchase seeds, fertilizers and pesticides on easy terms. Training through specialised centres will also help farmers learn modern agricultural techniques.

Experts believe this initiative could transform rural livelihoods, increase agricultural production and offer long-term economic stability to thousands of families across Punjab.
