ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The prison reform committee wrote a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, complaining about not meeting with Imran Khan.

Khadija Shah, in a letter to the CJP Yahya Afridi, wrote that the subcommittee of Supreme Court’s jail reform committee paid a visit to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.

The letter stated that former premier Imran Khan is a political prisoner, the committee wanted to seek his views regarding facilities in jail but the jail administration denied the meeting with PTI founder.

During the visit, the committee found the jail clean. It also toured the jail s hospital, women s barracks, cells for prisoners with mental health issues, and drug addicts.

The subcommittee s purpose is to assess the treatment of prisoners and ensure their rights in line with internationally recognised standards, including the Mandela Rules and the Bangkok Report for prisoners. The committee members also met death row inmates.

The committee requested the issuance of orders for a visit the Adiala Jail again to obtain the remarks of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan.
