United Arab Emirates (UAE) President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Islamabad on Friday on an official visit to Pakistan, marking a significant moment in bilateral relations between the two brotherly nations.
The UAE president landed at Nur Khan Airbase, where he was warmly received by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with senior ministers and top government officials. As his aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, it was escorted by Pakistan Air Force fighter jets in a symbolic gesture of respect and friendship.
A grand welcome ceremony followed, featuring the playing of national anthems of both countries, a 21-gun salute, and a guard of honour presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Military and traditional bands performed, while children dressed in traditional attire waved Pakistani and UAE flags, adding colour to the ceremony.
President Al Nahyan is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including senior advisers, members of the ruling family, federal ministers, and UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi.
According to the Foreign Office (FO), this is Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s first official visit to Pakistan as UAE president, though he visited earlier this year on a private trip. During the visit, he will hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and regional stability, and exchange views on regional and international developments.
