LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab government has ordered an immediate cut in transport fares after a sharp fall in diesel prices.

Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan has taken immediate steps to reduce transport fares following a noticeable drop in diesel prices.

He directed concerned officials to issue revised fare lists and ordered the formation of monitoring teams in all districts to make sure fare reductions are properly enforced.

The minister also instructed authorities to take strict action against transporters who continue to charge extra fares. All Regional Transport Authorities were told to submit reports on the implementation of reduced fares.

Bilal Akbar Khan further ordered that any extra money already taken from passengers must be returned. He said the government wants the benefit of lower diesel prices to reach people directly.

He warned that no leniency will be shown to transporters who charge more than the fixed rates and stressed that protecting passengers is the government’s top priority.

This move shows strong pressure on transporters. Monitoring teams may improve enforcement. Passengers could see quick relief if orders are followed.
