(Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has revealed that there is a ‘fair chance’ of Ramazan moon sighting on Feb 18 across Pakistan.

The PMD shared an important forecast about the Ramazan moon. According to the department, there is a “fair chance” that the new moon will be seen on the evening of February 18, which could mark the start of Ramazan 1447 AH. This prediction has created excitement among Muslims waiting for the holy month.

The PMD’s Climate Data Processing Centre (CDPC) explained that the new moon will be born at 5:01pm on February 17. After this time, the moon will gradually become visible, depending on weather conditions and visibility in different areas.

The department also said weather conditions are expected to be partly cloudy or clear in most parts of Pakistan. These conditions increase the possibility of moon sighting, although the final decision will be made by the official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after receiving eyewitness reports.

According to PMD’s forecast, the expected last moon sighting times on February 18 are different in each region. These include 6:58pm in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 6:53pm in Gilgit-Baltistan, 7:13pm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7:08pm in Punjab, 7:24pm in Sindh, and 7:47pm in Balochistan.

Muslims across Pakistan closely follow these announcements every year, as the sighting of the moon officially begins Ramazan, a month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. The prediction gives an early scientific estimate, but religious authorities will confirm the final start date.

This forecast gives people an early idea about Ramazan’s expected start. It helps families and businesses prepare in advance. Clear weather can increase the chances of moon sighting. However, the final announcement will depend on actual moon sighting reports.
