LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab government has expanded the “Dhee Rani Program” and doubled the marriage grant, offering stronger financial support to more deserving families.

The Punjab government has increased the program’s quota from 3,000 to 5,000 beneficiaries. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also approved raising the cash grant from Rs100,000 to Rs200,000 per marriage.

For the financial year 2025–26, the Punjab Finance Department has allocated Rs1,700,000,000 for the program. The Project Steering Committee has formally approved both the expansion and the revised financial plan.

However, vendor payments worth Rs660,000,000 could not be included in the current budget. Officials said outstanding bills linked to the media campaign will be cleared within the ongoing financial year.

The Finance Department has directed that all advertising and promotion be handled through the Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR). Around Rs50,000,000 will be spent on branding “Dhee Rani Program” ceremonies across Punjab’s 36 districts.

In addition, Rs8,000,000 has been set aside for issuing Bank of Punjab cards to 5,000 couples during the 2025–26 year.

The department has rejected a request for an extra Rs223,000,000 and confirmed that the entire program will be completed within the approved Rs1,700,000,000 budget.
