(Web Desk): Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has swept the by-lections on 13 National Assembly and Punjab Assembly seats and bagged 12 out of 13 seats, with unofficial results indicating a strong lead for PML-N candidates across most constituencies.

Polling for by-elections on 13 National Assembly and Punjab Assembly seats concluded on Sunday, with unofficial results indicating a strong lead for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates across most constituencies.

Vote counting began immediately after polling closed at 5 pm. Early, non-final results from various stations show PML-N ahead in all six National Assembly constituencies and six of the seven Punjab Assembly seats. One provincial seat is currently led by a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate, while PTI-backed independents trail on most positions.

Polling was held in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, and Haripur. Many of the seats were left vacant after PTI-backed members were disqualified in cases linked to the May 9, 2023 unrest.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the party’s successful candidates, crediting the results to the political direction of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the efforts of party workers. He also acknowledged the role of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and said the results reflected public confidence.
