Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan will continue making full diplomatic efforts to help resolve the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran.

While addressing the federal cabinet, the prime minister revealed that Pakistan played a key role in bringing the US and Iran to the negotiating table after nearly 47 years. He said both countries sent their delegations to Islamabad after Pakistan requested them to hold talks.

According to the prime minister, the meeting was historic because it was the first time in decades that senior officials from both sides held direct face-to-face discussions. He said Islamabad remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the Middle East. The talks lasted around 21 hours and covered several important issues related to the conflict.

PM Shehbaz said Pakistan’s leadership worked day and night to make these negotiations possible. He added that the diplomatic effort required careful coordination and serious commitment to ensure both sides could meet and talk openly.

He also thanked the leadership of both the United States and Iran for accepting Pakistan’s invitation. According to him, the visiting delegations appreciated Pakistan’s hospitality and recognized the country’s positive and constructive role in helping reduce tensions.

The prime minister said Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement helped maintain the two week ceasefire between the two countries. However, he noted that many issues are still unresolved and more negotiations will be required to reach a long term agreement.

PM Shehbaz stressed that Pakistan stepped forward at a very critical moment when tensions were affecting the global economy and raising fears of a wider regional conflict. He said Islamabad will keep working with all sides to ensure peace efforts continue.

Officials believe that Pakistan’s role as a mediator could open the door for more negotiations in the coming weeks as both sides explore ways to avoid further escalation.
