The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is considering a fresh framework that could allow heavy motorcycles, including 600cc and above, on national motorways. This time, the focus is on rider safety, proper training, and clear regulation.
During the hearing, motorway officials told the court that riders will not be allowed to enter motorways without completing formal training. Only trained and verified riders will be considered eligible.
To support this process, special training and registration centers are being set up in Islamabad and Sheikhupura. These centers will handle rider registration, licensing, and mandatory safety training before any permission is granted.

Although the court has not issued a final order, the discussions suggest a possible shift away from the complete ban that currently keeps heavy bikes off motorways.
The IHC has also asked the commission formed on this issue to hold more meetings with motorway authorities. The aim is to fine-tune the rules and ensure safety standards are clearly defined.
For now, the ban on 600cc and above motorcycles remains in place. Riders will have to wait for an official court decision to know when and under what conditions they can legally ride on motorways again.
