The Punjab Home Department has started formal registration for kite and string makers, sellers, and kite flying associations. The detailed procedures have been prepared for kite manufacturers, sellers, and buyers to ensure safe participation.
Kite associations must now complete registration using Form “A,” while registered individuals will receive official certificates on Form “B.” Similarly, kite flying associations will use Form “C” and Form “D” for registration.
Officials emphasized that all kite and string sizes, materials, and quality will strictly follow ‘Schedule One’ guidelines. The production or sale of substandard or chemical strings will be completely banned.

Therefore, registered associations will assist Deputy Commissioners in organizing Basant safely, ensuring that dangerous or illegal activities are prevented. The authorities also warned that anyone violating the rules will face cancellation of registration and legal action.
The government aims to make this year’s Basant both enjoyable and safe for everyone while preserving the festival’s traditional spirit.
