LAHORE (Web Desk): Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari welcomed him.

Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov’s official visit to Islamabad was at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif where he is accompanied by a high-level delegation including senior ministers, business leaders, and officials, according to a press release from the PM Office.

A 21-gun salute was held in honor of the visiting dignitary, while children in traditional dress presented him a bouquet.

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan share longstanding cultural, historical, and spiritual ties.

The two countries recently agreed to boost bilateral trade to $100 million and to cooperate in cryptocurrency, blockchain, and digital finance.

Both nations are also members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), alongside China, Russia, India, and Iran.
