(Web Desk): Former prime minister Imran Khan will be taken to hospital two more times, said a minister, as health concerns and political tensions grow.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that Imran Khan will be shifted to hospital twice in the coming days, confirming that Imran has to be given an injection on February 25.

Imran’s health has remained under discussion after it emerged in late January that he is suffering from right central retinal vein occlusion CRVO, an eye condition affecting vision. His family and party leaders have raised concerns about his medical care in jail.

The government and opposition have accused each other over the issue. PTI leaders claim there is no transparency and allege that Imran’s personal doctors are not being allowed access. The government has strongly denied these claims.

Speaking on ARY News programme “Sawal Yeh Hai”, the minister said, “Our top priority is to provide him the best treatment facilities. We previously took him to Pims as well, but in secrecy due to his security.”

He explained that doctors who examined Imran in jail advised shifting him to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for better care.

Chaudhry added that the government invited PTI leaders to attend Imran’s medical examination at Adiala jail on February 15. However, he claimed the party could not decide who would go. He said PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan was proposed, but “objections were raised”.

“So they can decide. Imran Khan sahib has to be administered an injection on February 25, if they want to come, they are most welcome. There is no secrecy,” he said.

The minister stressed that since Imran is in jail, the government is responsible for his treatment and is providing the best possible medical facilities.

The issue has once again sparked political debate, with both sides defending their positions.

Health issues have become political again. The government says treatment is transparent. PTI leaders want more direct access. Clear communication may reduce tension.
