ISLAMABAD (Suno News): The government has announced a small relief for electricity consumers with a reduction in per-unit prices.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification reducing electricity prices by ‘88 paisa per unit’ for one month. This cut will apply to consumers across the country, including K-Electric users.

The reduction will be reflected in December electricity bills. However, it will not apply to lifeline consumers (low-usage residential customers) and electric vehicle charging stations.

Separately, the government has approved a special package for the industrial sector. NEPRA has allowed discounted rates for additional electricity consumption by industries, with charges set at ‘Rs22.98 per unit’. The decision has been received positively by the Power Division, which has begun implementing the notification.

Therefore, officials clarified that the industrial package will not affect domestic or commercial electricity consumers. The three-year plan aims to boost industrial and agricultural activities, increase production, and create more jobs.

Energy Minister Sardar Owais Laghari added that greenfield industries, including data centers and crypto mining operations, will also benefit from this package, supporting long-term growth and planning in the industrial sector.
