The tribunal, headed by retired Justice Rana Zahid Mahmood, dismissed the petition on technical grounds. It said the petitioner did not meet the legal requirements set under the Election Act, 2017.
According to the tribunal, the petition failed to follow the mandatory procedures needed to challenge an election result. A detailed written order has not yet been issued. Dr. Yasmin Rashid filed the petition on April 16, 2024, questioning the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) notification of Nawaz Sharif’s victory.
In her plea, she claimed the ECP announced the result in violation of election laws. She asked the tribunal to cancel Nawaz Sharif’s win and declare her the returned candidate.

Rashid also alleged that the election results were manipulated to ensure her defeat. The ECP, however, had issued Nawaz Sharif’s victory notification on February 13. Official results show that Nawaz Sharif secured 179,310 votes in NA-130, while Yasmin Rashid finished second with 104,485 votes
