(Web Desk): Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi faced multiple high-profile convictions between 2024-2025, fueling major political controversy in Pakistan.

May 2021, Saudi crown prince gifted a Bulgari jewellery set during an official visit.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were found guilty fo retaining the jewellery set, valued at approximately RS80 million, after paying only rupees 2.9 million.

Previously the couple was convicted and sentenced to 14 years in jail in January 2024.

However in April 2024, IHC suspended the verdict and granted them bail.

State secret leak: Sentenced 10 years in January 2024.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his close ally Shah Mahmood Qureshi were sentenced to 10 years in jail on January 30, 2024, in a case that sent shockwaves through Pakistan’s political scene.

The verdict was linked to a classified diplomatic cable sent by Pakistan’s ambassador in Washington. According to the court, the document was publicly exposed and used as a political tool, crossing a red line by turning a state secret into a public debate. Authorities said the move put national security and diplomatic relations at risk.

What made the ruling even more explosive was its timing. The sentence came just days before national elections, effectively locking both leaders out of the political race. PTI slammed the decision as politically driven, calling it an attempt to silence opposition voices and reshape the electoral landscape.

IDDAT marriage case: Sentenced 7 years in March 2024.

In early February 2024, Islamabad’s court sent shockwaves through Pakistan by sentencing former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years in prison in the controversial Iddat marriage case.

The court ruled that the couple tied the knot while Bushra Bibi was still observing her Iddat — the mandatory waiting period a woman must observe after divorce before remarrying under Islamic law. Adding to the drama, each was fined Rs 500,000, turning the personal matter into a high-profile political scandal that grabbed national headlines.

Al-Qadir trust case: Sentenced 14 years in January 2025

In the Al-Qadir Trust scandal, former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were convicted for misusing a charitable trust meant for education. The court found that the trust collected huge sums of money and valuable land from powerful figures, including Bahria Town, but instead of funding projects, the assets were allegedly diverted for personal and political gain.
