
When asked by the reporter about ending cross-border terrorism, the premier firmly responded, “We are defeating you in cross-border terrorism,” sending a strong message.
Tensions between Pakistan and India have remained high since May, when India launched an unprovoked attack following the Pahalgam incident. Pakistan strongly denied India’s accusations, and both sides engaged in a brief but intense conflict.
These tensions even spilled over into sports when Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with Pakistani skipper Salman Ali Agha during the Asia Cup.
In his UNGA speech, the prime minister said Pakistan faced aggression from the eastern front in May. He declared, “The enemy came shrouded in arrogance; we sent them back in humiliation, delivering a bloody nose.”
Shehbaz Sharif also stressed that Pakistan condemns terrorism in every form and has stood at the front line of global counter-terrorism for more than two decades.
Speaking to the media after his address, the prime minister revealed that US President Donald Trump played a vital role in bringing peace and ending the May war. He said his meeting with President Trump was cordial and Pakistan was grateful for America’s role in ensuring regional stability.
