ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Supreme Court judge Justice Aminuddin has remarked that if the government wants to pursue the contempt of court case against former prime minister Imran Khan, the government will have to present the accused before the court in person.

The Supreme Court’s constitutional bench conducted the hearing of the case against Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Justice Aminuddin inquired whether the government was serious about pursuing the case.

In response, Additional Attorney General (AAG) of Pakistan Amir Rehman assured the court that the government would seriously pursue the contempt petition. The AAG maintained PTI Founder (PTI) Imran Khan violated the court orders on May 25 long march.

On which, Justice Aminuddin said that the court issued the notice, Khan would have to be presented before the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, Justice Jamal Mandokhel while addressing the AAG, emphasized on the contempt matter, saying that this case is entirely between the court and the accused. The judge directed the two parties not to react emotionally.

Salman Akram Raja, the counsel for the PTI founder, told the court that a response from his client had already been submitted. The court’s verbal order hadn’t reached the PTI founder, he argued. He added that due to the suspension of mobile and internet services, the legal team could not establish contact with the PTI founder.

Justice Musarat Hilali inquired whether Chairman Imran Khan was served a notice. In response, Raja explained that his client had submitted the response right after receiving the notice.

The Supreme Court constitutional bench afterwards adjourned the hearing indeterminately.
