Viral reports suggest that Punjab Chief Minister has imposed a ban on court marriages without the consent and presence of parents.
According to details this new court marriage rule requiring court approval for marriages without parental consent, has been confirmed as fake news.
The post, widely shared on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, features a photo of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif with a headline suggesting that “runaway marriages” will no longer be accepted in Punjab and that a father’s consent will be mandatory before any wedding.
The viral card further claimed that the new rule was officially signed and implemented by the provincial government.
However, no such announcement or notification has been issued by the Punjab government or any official department. The Punjab Information Department and sources within the Chief Minister’s Office have denied the authenticity of the post, clarifying that no new marriage law or restriction has been introduced.

Officials have termed the viral image a fabricated social media post meant to mislead the public. They urged citizens to verify news through official government handles before sharing.

Social media experts warn that such fake graphics, often designed with realistic layouts and political photos, can easily go viral and create misinformation.
Citizens are advised to follow official Punjab government channels for verified updates and avoid sharing unverified claims.
