(Web Desk): Multan police have directed students to obtain motorcycle licenses and helmets within a week under new traffic rules following CM Maryam Nawaz’s order.

Top police officials in Multan have instructed school and college students to obtain motorcycle licenses and helmets within one week as part of a new traffic safety directive. The announcement came during a joint press conference by City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Dogar and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Kashif Aslam.

CM orders no arrests for minors

The directive follows Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s order prohibiting the arrest of underage students for traffic violations. The decision came after videos circulated showing young students being handcuffed, prompting strong criticism from the Chief Minister.

Awareness campaign and extended hours

CPO Sadiq Dogar said the police have launched an awareness campaign to help students follow revised traffic rules. Traffic centers in Multan will remain open for extended hours to allow applicants to obtain licenses conveniently, even in the evening.

Stricter traffic rules and penalties

CTO Kashif Aslam highlighted that traffic laws have recently been amended, with stricter penalties for violations. He urged citizens to follow rules carefully to avoid fines or legal issues. The campaign focuses on guiding young riders toward safe and responsible behavior on the roads.
