The district administration has announced a three-day holiday in connection with the 556th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism.
According to the district administration spokesperson, all government and private educational institutions in Nankana Sahib city will remain closed from November 4 to 6. Official notifications have been issued for 24 government schools and dozens of private institutions announcing the holidays.
Similarly, all academic activities at Baba Guru Nanak University will also remain suspended from November 3 to 6. The administration said that city colleges will stay closed during the celebrations to help security personnel effectively manage traffic and large crowds.
Chief Executive Education Shazia Bano and the university administration have issued formal notices regarding the closure of educational institutions.
Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from around the world, including India, are expected to attend the grand celebrations. Earlier this week, the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi issued visas to 2,100 Indian Sikh yatrees for the event.

District authorities confirmed that all arrangements for accommodation, cleanliness, lighting, medical aid, and security have been completed. Staff from various departments have been assigned special duties to ensure the celebrations are peaceful, well-organized, and conducted with full dignity.
The festivities mark one of the most significant religious events for the Sikh community, drawing devotees from across the globe to pay homage at Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Baba Guru Nanak.
