The Punjab Prisons Department confirmed that the service is now being implemented across all prisons in the province.
The move aims to modernize the jail communication system and make family meetings more accessible and secure.
According to officials, special centers will be set up inside prisons where inmates can hold online meetings with their relatives.
The new facility will save families from the hassle of traveling long distances or standing in long queues for physical visits.
The department has also instructed jail authorities to place awareness banners in visible areas to guide inmates and their families about the new system.
Officials added that the ‘Online Mulakat’ app will not only improve contact between inmates and their families but will also ensure safety, comfort, and transparency within the prison system.
