LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab government has strongly rejected the circulating rumours on social media regarding the registration of prayer leaders, saying that no such regulation or law has been issued.

A spokesperson for the Punjab government clarified that false claims are being spread about the registration of imams, religious scholars, and permissions for Friday sermons. He added that the news circulating on social media and WhatsApp groups is misleading and baseless.

The spokesperson urged the public and religious leaders not to believe in such fake propaganda and to verify information through official sources only.

It may be recalled that during a recent meeting chaired by Chief Minister Marium Nawaz, it was made clear that except for extremist elements, no religious group faces any restrictions in Punjab. The government also reiterated that religious parties can freely conduct their activities within the code of conduct, and those promoting harmony will be fully supported.
