Baba Guru Nanak Sahib, the founder of Sikhism, is regarded as one of the greatest spiritual leaders in South Asia. His teachings of peace, equality, and devotion are followed by millions around the world.
According to a notification from Deputy Commissioner Taslim Akhtar Rao, all government institutions, schools, and colleges in Nankana Sahib will remain closed on this special day.
A spokesperson for the district administration said the holiday aims to help both local and international Sikh pilgrims who are visiting the city for the celebrations. The district expects a large number of devotees to arrive and pay their respects.
However, essential services will continue to operate as usual to ensure smooth arrangements during the festivities.

The notification also specifies that all the government departments, including schools will also remain close on the holiday.
By declaring the holiday, Nankana Sahib is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors, highlighting the city’s global spiritual importance. Such observances also strengthen community bonds and encourage unity across different faiths.
