Punjab’s eco-friendly public transport program has reached a new milestone with plans to launch electric bus services in 10 additional cities. According to a government spokesperson, a fleet of 200 electric buses has already arrived in these cities, and preparations for the service are complete. The official launch will take place on November 19, with Chief Minister Punjab set to inaugurate the service.
The new electric bus routes will become operational in Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujar Khan, Toba Tek Singh, and Jhang. Additional cities benefiting from the initiative include Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Bahawalpur. The program aims to expand sustainable public transport access and reduce the environmental impact of traditional vehicles.
The Punjab Transport Minister noted that the province has already introduced electric buses in Lahore and 10 other cities, where nearly 120,000 passengers use the service daily. The government highlighted that the initiative not only promotes green transport but also enhances urban mobility, making commuting safer and more efficient for residents.

Officials added that the new electric buses are equipped with modern features to ensure passenger comfort and safety. Authorities also confirmed that the program will continue to expand in future phases, with more cities expected to benefit from environmentally friendly public transport. The initiative aligns with Punjab’s broader strategy to reduce carbon emissions and modernize the province’s urban transit infrastructure.
The government urged citizens to take advantage of the new services and highlighted that this step reflects a long-term commitment to sustainable and efficient public transportation across the province.
