The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has issued a strong warning after multiple reports of a new DGIP scam targeting citizens through fake online platforms. Officials said fraudsters are posing as DGIP agents, offering quick passport renewals and urgent processing in exchange for payments through unofficial links.
Authorities confirmed that the DGIP has no connection with these websites or social media pages. “People must visit only the official DGIP portal for all passport-related services,” a spokesperson said. The department has also started tracking digital footprints of those involved in these fraudulent activities.
According to reports, victims have been misled by fake messages and emails that look identical to official DGIP notifications. Cybercrime units are now coordinating with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to locate the scammers behind this network.
Experts say such passport fraud cases have increased due to the growing trend of online applications. The DGIP is urging the public to verify every message, link, or payment demand before sharing personal information.

The department has also set up a dedicated complaint cell for citizens facing online scam alerts or suspicious requests.
In its official statement, the DGIP thanked the public for their cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to citizen protection and maintaining transparency in all passport-related services.
