Train fares increased across Pakistan

LAHORE (Web Desk): Following the increase in the prices of petroleum products, it has also been made difficult for citizens to travel by train.

Pakistan Railways has issued a notification announcing a 2 percent increase in passenger train fares. The fares of all mail, express, intercity and passenger trains have been increased.

According to the notification, the increase in train fares will be implemented from July 18, 2025.

Pakistan Railways increased the fares of passenger, express, and mail trains for the second time in a month.

Express and passenger train fares were increased by 2%, effective from July 4, 2025. The increase was also imposed on advance bookings.

Instructions were issued to the Director IT and DS to implement the new fares. Due to the increase in diesel prices, the Railways was losing Rs109 million per month.

It should be noted that on June 18, 2025, fares were increased by 3% and freight train fares by 4%.
