ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has approved the construction of two new international airports in Sukkur and Muzaffarabad, as per media reports.

The PAA has constituted a special committee to manage land acquisition, and preliminary groundwork is reportedly underway, supervised by the Works and Development Department.

In addition to mobilising internal resources, the PAA is set to hire consultants and technical experts to support the execution of the projects, which aim to boost regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth.

Sukkur International Airport will cater to Upper Sindh’s growing air travel demand, while Muzaffarabad International Airport will enhance access to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The news comes shortly after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that a feasibility study has been initiated for another international airport in Mirpur, AJK, following a request from British Members of Parliament.
