Pakistan Idol is officially returning after 11 years, and it’s coming back bigger than ever. The music reality show, which first aired in 2014, is launching a new season with superstar judges including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Bilal Maqsood, Zeb Bangash, and Fawad Khan.
The show played a major role in launching music careers in its first season. Lahore’s Zamad Baig won the title, and contestants like Waqas Ali Vicky and Rose Marie gained massive exposure.

Vicky, who came from a non-musical background, said the show helped him form his identity as an artist. “People around the world start following you,” he said. “It becomes a huge opportunity for ‘gully boys’ to aim for international music careers.”
The show created a sense of community among young singers, helping them grow by learning from each other and experimenting with different styles. “Your name gets attached to this platform,” said Vicky. “That changes everything.”
Zoya Merchant, director at MHL Global (responsible for streaming the show across five networks), told Variety, “Pakistan has incredible musical talent, and this platform will not only spotlight it nationwide but elevate it to the global stage."
Pakistan Idol is planning to launch online auditions and casting calls, with the premiere date to be announced soon. The new season is expected to bring even more opportunities for emerging talent to shine beyond borders.
