As per the new regulations, it is now mandatory for all individuals to obtain a National Identity Card (NIC) upon reaching the age of 18.
The citizens must apply for their NIC within 90 days of turning 18 in accordance with the NADRA Ordinance 2000. Failure to do so may result in serious penalties, as outlined in Section 30(e) of the Ordinance. Failure to apply within the specified timeframe could lead to imprisonment of up to six months, a fine of up to Rs50,000, or both.
This initiative is designed to ensure accurate citizen registration and improve the management of national records. NADRA emphasizes the importance of timely adherence to legal requirements to avoid penalties.
The young citizens and their families are urged to prioritize this obligation and promptly submit their NIC applications to prevent potential legal consequences.
