According to the official statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said, “I am pleased to confirm that former Senator Mushtaq has been released and is now safely with the Pakistan Embassy in Amman. He is in good health and high spirits. The Embassy stands ready to facilitate his return to Pakistan, in accordance with his wishes and convenience.”
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed Mushtaq’s release, posting on X, “I am pleased to confirm that former Senator Mushtaq has been released and is now safely with Pakistan Embassy in Amman.”
Senator Mushtaq, along with other international activists, had joined the Sumud Flotilla, a peace and solidarity convoy aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza. The flotilla was intercepted in international waters by the Israeli Navy, which detained several participants, including Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, drawing widespread condemnation from human rights groups and political leaders across the world.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to friendly countries and international partners for their active engagement and diplomatic assistance in securing his release. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to all nations that supported Pakistan’s efforts in ensuring Senator Mushtaq’s safety and freedom,” the statement added.
Officials confirmed that arrangements are being made for Mushtaq’s safe return to Pakistan, and the government will continue to ensure his well-being until his repatriation. His release has brought immense relief to his family, colleagues, and supporters, who hailed it as a diplomatic success and a moment of national pride.
