Notably the SART project is Pakistan s first complete electric, trackless tram system designed by Norinco International. The new coaches are air-conditioned and can carry as many as 320 passengers in three compartments, and there is provision for adding a fourth. The tram has a range of up to 40 kilometers on one charge.
Already functional in Turkey, China, and the UAE, the SART promises to greatly facilitate traffic flow and minimize environmental pollution in Lahore.
Addressing the event, Maryam Nawaz mentioned that the venture would revolutionize the city of Lahore s urban transport system and assured that Faisalabad and Gujranwala would soon witness the same developments.
