(Web Desk): Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has discovered a new source of oil and gas in Sindh, marking a promising addition to Pakistan’s energy reserves.

The company confirmed that the find was made at the Mari Ghazij CFB-1 exploration well, where drilling began on September 12, 2025, and successfully reached the Sill formation at a depth of 1,195 meters.

During testing, the well produced 305 barrels of oil per day and 3 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD), with successful results recorded at a 48/64-inch choke size and 225 psi pressure.

MPCL noted that this marks the second oil-producing well in the Mari Ghazij area, where the company holds 100% operatorship under the Mari D&P Lease. Managing Director and CEO Faheem Haider praised the achievement, commending the geoscience team for their efforts and reaffirming the company’s commitment to further exploration in the region.

Earlier, the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) also reported a new discovery of gas and condensate from its Faakir-1 exploratory well in Khairpur district. OGDCL holds a 95% working interest in partnership with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), which owns the remaining 5%.
