Govt announces refunds for Hajj pilgrims, slashes Hajj 2025 costs
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced the refund of 4.75 billion rupees to pilgrims under the 2025 Hajj Government Scheme.

Refunds will range from 20,000 to 140,000 rupees, with seven categories established to determine the amount to be refunded.

During a press conference, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Chaudhry Salik Hussain announced the reduction in Hajj expenses for pilgrims. The cost of a 40-day Hajj will be 1.05 million rupees, while a 25-day Hajj will cost 1.1 million rupees.

Chaudhry Salik stated that through negotiations with airlines and reducing other Hajj expenses, the government decided to refund money to pilgrims, as it belongs to them. A formula for refunds was created based on a thorough review of the expenses, with amounts determined according to the services pilgrims receive in the Holy Land.

He explained that pilgrims staying closer to the Haram would receive a smaller refund, while those staying farther away would get a larger refund.

Additional Secretary Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman mentioned that the highest refund amount of 140,000 rupees will be given to 20,228 individuals. A refund of 110,000 rupees will be provided to 10% of the pilgrims, i.e., 6,784 individuals. Refunds of 90,000 rupees will be given to 26%, and 75,000 rupees to 23%. Similarly, 50,000 rupees will be refunded to 19% of pilgrims.
