
Aimed at reducing escalating power costs and promoting renewable energy use among low-income households, the provincial Energy Department continues to accept applications under this initiative.
According to Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the program targets 200,000 eligible families—77,000 of whom have already received solar panels—while the remaining 123,000 are slated to benefit in the next distribution phase. Recipients will be selected via a lottery system if applications exceed available spots.
How to Apply
· An online portal is expected to be announced soon by the provincial government, applications are currently being accepted at district energy offices.
Application Steps:
1. Visit your nearest District Energy Office or wait for the official portal.
2. Complete the application form with your accurate details (name, CNIC, address, electricity connection info).
3. Submit the required documents.
4. Obtain and keep a receipt as proof of submission.
Eligibility Criteria
· You must be a resident of Sindh.
· The electric connection must be valid and it should be in your own name.
· Your monthly electricity consumption must be 100 units or less.
· Commercial or industrial users are not eligible, the scheme only applies to domestic users.
Required Documents
Applicants need to provide:
· Copy of CNIC
· Latest electricity bill
· Proof of residence (e.g., utility bill, rental agreement)
Some updates suggest that income verification and passport-sized photos may also be requested in certain processing centers, but these are not universally required as per official statements.

The minister emphasized the government’s effort to deliver “cheap and eco-friendly energy” to the public. He remarked that the provincial government’s first power plant, set up under a public-private partnership, continues to supply electricity via the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC), ensuring cost-effective delivery.
Applications remain open until August 20, 2025, and those wishing to apply are urged to do so before the deadline.
