FBR announces deadline and document requirements for tax returns FY2024–25

(Web Desk): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially set September 30, 2025, as the deadline for taxpayers across Pakistan to file their income tax returns for the fiscal year 2024–25.

Taxpayers have been urged to complete their filings by the given date to avoid fines and legal action. According to Sections 114 and 116 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, individuals must submit detailed documentation when filing their returns.

Key Documents Needed for Filing Tax Returns

Both salaried individuals and business owners are required to gather and submit the following:

  • Bank statements for the entire fiscal year ending June 30, 2025

  • Details of personal and business expenses

  • Photocopies of utility bills from FY2024–25

  • Information on bank loans or vehicle leases, if applicable

  • Records of insurance policy installments, if applicable

  • Breakdown of total income and expenses during FY2025

  • Sales tax details, for registered sales taxpayers

  • Information on remittances received from abroad

  • Withholding tax deductions from various sources

  • Details of profit from bank accounts or savings schemes

  • Updated contact details, including phone number and residential address

  • Complete list of personal and business assets

The FBR encourages timely and accurate submission to streamline the tax process and ensure compliance.
