(Web Desk): The black box has found from the MI-17 helicopter that crashed during flood relief operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to officials, the black box was found nearly 100 meters away from the crash site. Police later handed it over to the concerned authorities for investigation.

The government helicopter went down last week near Suki hills in Mohmand’s Pandiali area while carrying out a rescue mission amid the province’s worst floods in decades. All five onboard — two pilots and three crew members — were martyred in the incident. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had earlier stated that the helicopter was transporting relief goods to rain-hit victims in Bajaur when the tragedy occurred.

Meanwhile, the devastation caused by torrential rains and flash floods continues to unfold. The district administration of Buner released its damage assessment report, revealing large-scale destruction across the region.

According to Deputy Commissioner Kashif Qayum, the floods and a cloudburst have claimed at least 401 lives in Buner alone, leaving 671 people injured. Over 2,300 houses have been completely destroyed, while 413 sustained partial damage. The education sector was also hit hard, with six government schools washed away.

Public services and law enforcement facilities were not spared either. Two police stations were swept away, while 639 vehicles were destroyed. The report further detailed that 127 shops were completely demolished and another 824 were partially damaged.

The catastrophic floods have wreaked havoc across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with provincial reports confirming more than 400 fatalities in Buner alone, adding to the mounting death toll nationwide.
