Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Interior Minister Naqvi announced that from 2025, no Afghan national would be allowed to stay in capital, saying that if any Afghan national wants to reside in Islamabad, he will have to get an NOC from capital’s administration.
Mohsin Naqvi clarified that NOC would be required for Afghan citizens to reside in Islamabad after December 31. If any Afghan national violates this rule, he will face litigation.
He added that the restoration of the order in the city is government’s top priority. After the operation against miscreants, the normalcy has been returned. He assured that routine life would be restored soon.
While dismissing the rumours regarding casualties during the operation which were being circulated on social media, he stated that arms were not used during the operation. Police personnel did not carry guns. He lamented that a malicious propaganda was being orchestrated on social media. He said that PTI carried out this malicious propaganda in order to hide its failure.
Before Naqvi’s media talk, Islamabad Chief Commissioner and Inspector General told the press about latest development regarding Afghan nationals.
Yesterday, Information Minister Atta Ullah Tarar claimed that Afghan nationals were part of PTI’s much-hyped protest. He told the media that government would conduct probe into this matter and reveal the identity of foreign nationals after identifying them.
It merits mention that government has taken several initiatives to deport illegal foreign nationals. Under this, government has deported thousands of Afghan nationals.
