(Web Desk): A tragic incident has occurred involving 23 fishermen from Khojri village in Bannu, who drowned within the territorial waters of Oman.

So far, only one fisherman has been rescued, while 22 others remain missing, sparking concerns among families and officials. According to Maulana Naseem Ali Shah, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) elected from Bannu, the fishermen had departed from Gwadar on September 6 for a fishing expedition in Omani waters. Unfortunately, their fishing launch met with an accident during the trip.

He further revealed that the accident occurred due to a fire in the compressor of the fishing vessel. As a result, the launch caught fire, leading to the fishermen falling into the sea. One individual was rescued by the crew of a nearby ship, but there has been no contact or trace of the remaining 22 fishermen since the incident.

Back home, the families of the missing fishermen are in deep distress. They stated that they have been trying to contact the Pakistani Embassy in Oman to seek help but have yet to receive any substantial support or information. The families have made a heartfelt appeal to both the Pakistani and Omani governments to launch a search operation and assist in finding their loved ones. They have urged authorities to act swiftly, fearing that any further delay could diminish the chances of rescue.
