Pakistani authorities have arrested several family members and close associates of Yasir, the suicide bomber involved in the recent Islamabad attack, as nationwide counter-terror operations continue.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that Yasir’s brother was arrested from Peshawar, while his brother-in-law was taken into custody in Karachi. These arrests are part of a coordinated effort to dismantle networks connected to the bomber.
In a significant development, a key facilitator linked to the attack was neutralized in Nowshera, according to security sources. Authorities say the facilitator had been involved in planning and logistical support for the suicide operation.
The most notable arrest was that of Yasir’s mother from her residence in a posh sector of Islamabad. Law enforcement officials described her detention as a critical step in gathering intelligence about the planning and execution of the attack.
The operations come after a deadly suicide blast shook Islamabad, targeting a busy area during Friday prayers. The attack left multiple casualties and heightened security concerns across the capital.
