Pakistan shoots down five Indian Rafale jets, destroys brigade headquarter

LAHORE: (Web Desk) In retaliation, the Pakistan armed forces shot down five Indian Air Force (IAF) jets including a drone, destroying brigade headquarters after India carried out missile strikes in Punjab and Azad Kashmir.

All Pakistan Air Force jets are safe after engaging Indian jets, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.

Pakistan’s military media wing spokesperson told Reuters that among the destroyed Indian Air Force (IAF) jets are three French-made Rafales, one Su30MKI and one MIG-29 Fulcrum.

The Pakistani forces destroyed an enemy post in the Dhundial sector of the Line of Control (LoC) and shot down two drones.

An intense exchange of fire is ongoing at the LoC with Pakistan Army engaging Indian Army positions.

According to reports, India launched strikes at six sites, including Kotli, Bagh, Muzaffarabad, Bahawalpur and Muridke.

ISPR stated that 26 Pakistanis embraced martyrdom, more than 40 wounded in attacks on civilians.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed on Wednesday that at least eight Pakistanis were martyred and 35 were injured in Indian missile attacks in AJK and Punjab.

ISPR DG Lt Gen Chaudhry further explained that India launched 24 attacks on six locations in Pakistan, and all targets hit were civilian in nature, with most being mosques.

Following the Pahalgam attack, the Indian strikes come amid excalating tensions between the two ornery nuclear-armed neighbours

Security sources says Pakistan Army shoots down another drone in Kotli

In latest retaliation, the Pakistan Army shot down another Indian drone in Kotli, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, state-run PTV reports, security sources stated.

“Earlier, Indian drones were also shot down in Barnala and Shakargarh sectors.

“The Pakistan Army is busy giving full response to every aggression of the enemy.”.

After midnight, loud explosions were heard in multiple cities, including Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh and Muzaffarabad, reported state media.

Loud explosions were also reported in the mountainous region near Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, according to Reuters witnesses.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that the PAF has shot down at least five Indian fighter jets in response to India’s recent cross-border aggression.

He emphasised that the Pakistani armed forces acted decisively to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned India’s air strikes, calling them as an "unprovoked and blatant act of aggression".

Pakistan has told the United Nations Security Council about the evolving situation between Pakistan and India, following the overnight military escalations across the border.

In its statement, Pakistan raised serious concerns over what it described as India s unprovoked aggression, which has further heightened tensions in the region.

The Security Council has also been told that Pakistan reserves the right to respond to the Indian strikes.
