Sources said that 86 sub-inspectors (SIs) in the Punjab police will be promoted to the rank of inspector through the Public Service Commission under the service quota.

For the purpose, the Punjab government has amended the relevant laws pertaining to service quotas. According to DIG Establishment 1, the promotion of these Sis will open up additional vacancies for sub-inspectors (SI) and assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs).
