(Web Desk): In a rare incident, Lahore police have filed a theft case after two apples and a bottle of hand wash were stolen from an additional sessions judge’s chamber.

The case was registered at Islampura Police Station on December 5, making it the first known theft of this kind within court premises. The total value of the stolen items is declared as Rs1,000. The complaint was lodged by the judge’s reader.

Police registered the case under Section 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with theft in buildings used for custody of property. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Legal experts noted that Section 380 carries a maximum punishment of seven years imprisonment, or a fine, or both. They emphasized that Pakistani law applies equally to all thefts, regardless of the value involved.

Court staff described the incident as unprecedented for items of such minor value. The filing of an FIR reflects the judiciary’s commitment to maintaining decorum, security, and the sanctity of court premises.
