ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Two ad hoc judges of the Supreme Court, Justice (retd) Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice (retd) Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, took the oath of office.

According to the details, the oath-taking ceremony was held in the Supreme Court where Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa administered the oath to the ad hoc judges.

It should be remembered that on July 27, the Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification for the appointment of two ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

On July 26, President Asif Ali Zardari approved the appointment of two ad hoc judges in the apex court.

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) approved the appointment of Justice (retd) Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice (retd) Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel as ad hoc judges.

The CJP had recommended the names of four retired judges for the appointment of ad hoc judges, including the names of Justice (retd) Mushir Alam, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, Justice (retd) Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, and Justice (retd) Tariq Masood.

However, Justice (retd) Mushir Alam and Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar had resigned from becoming ad hoc judges.

Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar refused to accept the responsibility due to personal commitments while Justice (retd) Mushir Alam declined the offer in view of the ongoing campaign against ad hoc judges on social media.
