Afaq Ahmed obtained bail in the cases regarding arson and vandalism. He was arrested on February 11 for allegedly provoking people to set goods trucks ablaze in different areas of Karachi.
The court granted Afaq Ahmed bail in the case registered at Surjani Town police station and ordered him to furnish a surety bond of Rs1 million.
His supporters welcome Ahmed’s release from prison.
Police launched an investigation into the incident, where some individuals set heavy transport ablaze in Surjani, Awami Colony and Korangi.
Earlier, Afaq Ahmed was booked in three cases. The Anti-Terrorism Court dismissed police’s request for physical remand of Afaq Ahmed, sending him to jail on judicial remand on Wednesday.
In his remarks, the ATC judge expressed resentment over framing terrorism charges against the Muhajir Qaumi Movement chairman.
“Politicians become more popular when they go to jail,” the Judge remarked.
