IHC Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz accepted the PTI’s plea against the Captial Development Authority (CDA) and pronounced a written judgment to de-seal the party’s central secretariat.
It is to be noted here that the CDA demolished some constructions at the PTI’s central secretariat in Islamabad as part of its anti-encroachment operation on May 24, 2024.
The PTI workers offered resistance to the CDA authorities when they sealed the office.
The Islamabad deputy commissioner confirmed the sealing of the PTI office established on the plot allotted to Sartaj Ali.
He confirmed that before the final notice on May 10, 2024, the CDA had served notices on November 19, 2020, February 22, 2021, June 14, 2022, and September 4, 2023, but to no avail.
Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and PTI Senator Shibli Faraz exchange hot words in the Senate on the issue of sealing the PTI office.
During the heated debate, Shibli Faraz accused the government of resorting to cheap tactics to target his party. He condemned the demolition of the party’s secretariat and the arrest of PTI leader Amir Mughal.
In response, the law minister vowed to continue legal action against the ‘illegal’ secretariat of the PTI if deemed necessary.
He stated the PTI’s secretariat in Islamabad was demolished as per the law as its two floors were constructed without permission from the CDA.
He said it was solely the CDA’s decision to demolish the PTI’s central secretariat, adding the CDA had been issuing notices for four years.
“The first notice was served in 2020 during the tenure of the PTI’s own government,” he said and added the final notice was issued on May 10, 2024, before demolishing the illegally built structures.
