Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of Islamabad High Court (IHC) conducted the hearing on PTI Founder Imran Khan’s post-arrest bail plea in new Toshakhana case and reviewed the arguments in detail.
PTI founder Imran Khan’s counsel Barrister Salman Safdar presented the arguments in the court. He argued that prosecutor’s move to decrease the sentence of few witnesses for testifying against Imran Khan was questionable. He further stated that the way of determining the price of jewelry set was vague. He questioned that why the case had been filed after three and half years. He argued that all gifts were obtained under the previous Toshakhana policy after paying their due price.
During the hearing, prosecutor of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) told the court that news of bail approval was already circulating on media.
The prosecutor stressed that the gifts were acquired through clandestine way after lowering their rates which cost national exchequer.
He added that Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi took benefit in the matter.
“My wife’s possessions do not belong to me,” Justice Aurangzeb remarked during the hearing, adding that there should be transparency in state’s affairs.
After reviewing all the arguments, the court approved the bail plea of Imran Khan and ordered his releases. The court ordered the accused to furnish two surety bonds of Rs1,000,000 each.
