Sindh board introduces modern smart exam system

KARACHI (Web Desk): The Sindh board has announced a new modern smart exam system for matriculation and intermediate exams.

The official launch of this e-marking system will take place on 4 december,2025, in Karachi. The head of 29 educational boards from all across Pakistan along with the officials of Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) will participate.

This decision marks a significant step toward digital transformation in the province’s assessment procedures.

The Federal Board of Education will equip the Sindh educational boards with software required for e-marking, scanning, barcoding, QR codes, and updated marking criteria.

This new modern smart exam system of e-marking will be implemented in the examination of 2026.

A high-level committee has also been formed named as titled Digitization and Technology Implementation in Sindh board to implement and supervise the the system.

The new committee was formed by Abbas Baloch, Secretary of the Department of Universities and Boards.

The committee includes the chairmen of the Karachi Intermediate Board, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Shaheed Benazirabad, the Sukkur Board, and the additional secretary of the Department of Universities and Boards.

While, speaking to the media, Lakho said the Sindh boards has convinced the federal government to support their initiative.

“If the government can fund PhD scholarships nationwide, it can also support us with the e-marking mechanism,” he said.

According the new modern smart exam system, each exam paper will carry a unique QR code, which will allow digital scanning and segmented marking.

Under the new mechanism, multiple teachers will evaluate different questions of the same paper, preventing any individual from marking more than one question.

This approach aims to improve fairness, accuracy, and transparency.
