Non-formal and basic education schools across Punjab have officially announced winter holidays starting from today, December 29, 2025. The Non-Formal and Basic Education Department issued a notification confirming the closure of these schools for an extended break.

According to the notification, all non-formal schools in Punjab will remain closed until January 10, giving students and staff a well-deserved winter recess. Classes are scheduled to resume on January 12, 2026.

Officials emphasized that this winter holiday applies to all registered non-formal and basic education schools in the province. The decision ensures that both students and teachers can take a break during the colder months while also allowing schools time for administrative preparations for the new year.

The Non-Formal and Basic Education Department has requested school administrators to inform students and parents about the schedule to avoid confusion. Authorities also stressed that any important administrative or academic work should be completed before the break begins.

This announcement comes amid other educational updates in the country, including KP’s recent decision to suspend exams in private schools during winter vacations, highlighting a growing trend of accommodating students’ needs during seasonal breaks.

Parents are advised to make necessary arrangements for their children during the holiday period. The department also encouraged students to use the time constructively, engaging in self-study or skill-building activities at home.
