The Punjab government has announced long-awaited relief for more than 300,000 teachers and government employees by issuing clear directives to complete all pending promotions across the province within a fixed timeframe.
According to an official notification issued by the Directorate of Public Instruction (Elementary) Punjab, all eligible employees in grades 1 to 16 will be promoted within one month. Promotion orders have already been dispatched to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all districts, instructing them to ensure immediate and timely implementation.
The DPI Elementary Punjab has further directed all concerned authorities to clear long-pending promotion cases on a priority basis. Officials have been warned that any unnecessary delay, negligence, or failure to process promotion files within the given deadline will result in disciplinary action.
The move comes after years of complaints from teachers and government staff whose promotion cases had remained stuck due to administrative hurdles and procedural delays. Many employees had repeatedly raised concerns over stalled career progression, which had also affected morale within the public sector.
Teachers and government employees across Punjab have welcomed the decision, terming it a major relief and a long-overdue step. They believe the promotion drive will not only address longstanding grievances but also help restore trust and confidence in the government’s administrative system.

Authorities said strict monitoring will be carried out to ensure compliance, adding that the promotion process must be completed without discrimination or further delay.
